03.04.13:
"Durandemonium 2013: The Music Between Us" convention comes to Chicago,
IL this October!
Durandemonium [Dur-ran-duh-moh-nee-uh-m] Noun. A wild uproar, or unrestrained celebration of being a
Duran Duran fan.
Our
collective vision for this fan convention has been to provide
a vehicle for
Duran Duran fans to meet, mingle, and cultivate lifelong friendships
that go well beyond the life of the band. Their music has become the
backdrop for many wonderful friendships over the years, and we hope to
continue in that theme. The entire convention, from the moment of
check-in on Friday night through Sunday midday, has been designed with
that vision in mind.

Enter to be featured in LACT's "I Love the 80s" themed "Local Art"
(Series 1) Trading Card Initiative
Local
Artists Coming Together (LACT) is a group of artists who hunger to
be more. Seeking inspiration and knowledge, we come together to
empower one another through shared experiences, tricks of the trade and in
learning from the success of those who came before us. What better way
to announce ourselves to the world than to throw our first event? So
without further ado...
Artists of all mediums are invited to submit original works of art set to
the theme “I Love the 80’s”. Ever want to have your art
featured in a series of trading cards? Well this is the event you’ve
been waiting for! The goal of this project is to inspire/expand the
existing local art scene through a partnership with local businesses.
Ten (10) submissions will be selected to create a series of collectible
artist trading cards called “Local Artists” (Series 1). Each artist who
is chosen for the set will receive 70 sets of the cards
to do with as they see fit.
Here’s how to enter:
Create an original piece(s) of art set to the theme I Love the 80’s.
Artists are invited to submit as many pieces as they wish.
Submissions may be
of ANY medium.
Artists do NOT have to be local to Jacksonville.
The end measurements of the cards will be 2.5” X 3.5” so scale your
submission(s) accordingly.
The higher the resolution of the image the better. Don’t be left behind because
you took a photo of your amazing piece of art with your cell phone camera.
Participants are urged to
join the group on Facebook as well as
‘Like’ the fan
page to keep track of their score(s) and also invite their artistically inclined
friends to the
EVENT PAGE. The competition should be welcomed for this is
all in good fun. Plus, the more the merrier!
The group has the right to use the images for the purposes of promoting the
contest and the group itself. There will be no resale reproduction of these
images. Outside of the lent rights to these pieces all other rights remain that
of the artist.
01.05.12: New John Mellencamp Documentary Is Released
John
Mellencamp: It's About You is a new musical documentary
that offers a rare and intimate look at the life and music of Rock
and Roll Hall of Famer John Mellencamp.
The film
premiered at this year’s SXSW festival and followsMellencamp
on his summer 2009 concert tour and during the recording of his most
recent album, 2010’s universally acclaimed No Better Than This, the
sessions for which took place at American musical and historical
landmarks, includingSun Studios in
Memphis and the First African Baptist Church in Savannah, GA. We see
Mellencamp recording – with a single mike and mono tape recorder more
than half a century old – in the same hotel room where legendary
bluesman Robert Johnson created some of his most memorable work. Along
the way, Mellencamp reveals a side not often seen by the public, in a
film that becomes a soulful, highly personal meditation on small-town
America.
The film is about to do a limited run in both New York (opening
Jan 4th at IFC Film Center) and LA (Jan 6th and Laemmle
Music Hall).

06.22.11: ATTN UK READERS: CBS Drama Will Air Dynasty: The Reunion
on July 23rd
To celebrate
thirty years since blockbuster soap opera Dynasty burst onto our screens,
CBS Drama,
the home of iconic, blockbuster series, has compiled its 30 most
shocking Dynasty moments ever.
In recognition of this iconic soap landmark, when the complete
series finishes on CBS Drama in July, viewers will have the rare
chance to see Dynasty: The Reunion, which hasn’t been seen
on British
Television for more than ten years and ties up all the loose ends of the
epic Carrington saga.
The series is famous for its increasingly elaborate catfights,
convoluted murder plots, outlandish bribery and corruption scandals,
thwarted love matches and complicated family trees.
Thirty
years ago we were introduced to the Carringtons, with Blake about to
marry his former secretary Krystle. Throughout the nine series and
the Reunion, family ties are broken, ex-lovers hatch revenge,
secrets are revealed and sex and sexual jealousies are never far
from the surface.
The celebrated Dynasty gave us Joan Collins fighting in
ponds, the glorious Moldavian Massacre – a classic soap moment -
plus most characters, at some point, either plotting a murder or
about to be bumped off themselves.
Explosions, car crashes, poisonings and large scale fraud featured
prominently, with a large dollop of Nazi treasure hunting,
firebombing and shootouts thrown in for good measure.
In celebration of the gloriously gripping saga, the top thirty,
dirty and dastardly Dynasty moments are:
Krystle’s about to marry Blake, but sparks fly with old flame Matthew
Blake forces himself on Krystle
Krystle leaves Blake
Ted bangs his head in a fight with Blake and dies
Blake is arrested for Ted’s murder
Dramatic arrival of Alexis as a prosecution witness at Blake’s trial
Krystle finds out she’s pregnant
Alexis tells Steven that he is Blake’s only child – Fallon is not Blake’s
daughter
Steven has a drunken fall – he may have brain damage
Alexis get a private detective to spy on Krystle
Krystle suffers a miscarriage after falling from a horse – Alexis spooked
the horse
Blake becomes blind after a bomb attack
Blake gets his sight back, but doesn’t tell anybody
Alexis sleeps with Cecil, but he has a heart attack
Alexis lies exposed – DNA test proves Blake is Fallon’s father
Adam and Fallon are flirting – they don’t know they are siblings
Steven is seriously injured in the oil rig explosion
Alexis tells Fallon that Mark is a gigolo
Alexis plots Congressman McVane’s downfall with a scandalous newspaper
report
McVane threatens to kill Alexis
Mark is charged with the attempted murder of Krystle and Alexis
Fallon is paralysed in a road accident
Kirby tries to kill Alexis (again)
Steven claims he saw Alexis murder Mark
Rita is poisoning Blake
Steven stabs Matthew to death
Blake is accused of being involved in illegal weapons
Krystle vows to kill Alexis and will cite mental illness to get away with
the plot
Blake has a secret stash of Nazi loot
Amanda and Michael’s wedding – the Moldavian Massacre!

05.10.11: Fans Help to Release New Kajagoogoo Single
With the help of the fan site
KajaFax, Kajagoogoo’s original five members - Limahl (Lead Vocals), Nick Beggs
(Bass/Vocals), Steve Askew (Guitar/Vocals), Jez Strode (Drums) and
Stuart Croxford Neale (Keyboards/Vocals) have an exciting new single
release... ‘Death Defying Headlines.’ Promoted by the
fans, for the fans, this is very much a labor of love.
Back in 1983, Kajagoogoo’s chart
success was instant - the pop-perfect ‘Too Shy’ became a
number one in 23 countries (and top 5 in America), the ‘Ooh To be
Ah’ follow-up went top ten, ‘Hang On Now’ top 20 and
the debut album ‘White Feathers’ top 5, going on to sell 3
million copies. After the split with Limahl, the four remaining
members regrouped with Nick on vocals and their next single ‘Big
Apple’ reached a respectable number eight, but Limahl’s vocal
presence couldn’t help but be missing. Their next single ‘The
Lion’s Mouth’ only just made the top 30. After the albums
‘Islands’ and ‘Crazy Peoples Right to Speak,’ the band
split once more. Limahl went on to have solo success with ‘Only
for Love’ and then the huge smash hit ‘The Never Ending
Story’ written by Giorgio Moroder and featured on his debut
album ‘Don’t Suppose....’
‘Death Defying Headlines’ follows on from the successes of the
band’s recent reunion tour, and perfectly captures both the modern
Kajagoogoo sound, and the original feel of their earlier hits.
The track will be available via the
usual digital outlets on a pre-order basis from 16th May 2011
pending full release on June 6th 2011. It will be available as both
a ‘single’ mix and extended dance remix (additional remix/production
work by Unique Kid).

04.06.11: ATTN UK Fans ... Club de Fromage Hosts 'Right Royal 80's Knees
Up!' Party
'Cor
blimey, stone the crows, mind the apples and pears, the blue rinse is
getting Hackney carriaged'. Yes indeed in honour of the coming nuptials
of the heir to the throne, club legend, (and best mate of Peter Andre
and Dot Cotton) Fat Tony, is pulling out all the stops!
Club de Fromage, London's premier fancy dress night is throwing a
wedding bash to put the one at Westminster Abbey to shame. He won't
be inviting children and tramps like Wills and Kate but he will be
inviting the cream of London's club going elite (well anyone who wants
to pay on the door).
Not one to do things by halves, Tony is taking you back to a time when the
Royals didn't invite commoners to their weddings, the people knew their
place and Princes could knock off whoever they liked ... yes it's all
back to the 80's as we party like its 199Charles and Di.
As part of this time-warp extravaganza Club de Fromage will be decking the
halls with bunting, asking you to don your best 80's wedding gear,
doling out cakes and official merchandise (Club de Fromage merchandise,
not Royal wedding stuff. Don't want the flunkeys on our case.) and
generally having a bash to end all bashes like we used to under Maggie
Thatcher.
Pop upstairs and use the photo booth to record this special day, dance
round your Gucci handbag to songs like Kiss the Bride, Going to the
Chapel, Chapel of Love and get stuck in to London's silliest
celebration. We'll also be crowning the King and Queen of Fromage on the
night and forcing them to get married after couple of pints.
Hopefully we'll have our own little heir to the thrown in no time.
Other exciting stuff Tony and his son Slow Alfie have lined up are, an
exclusive 'Royal Wedding' set by air guitar legends Lucifer's
Grandmother and a special meat pie raffle, with the winner going home
with a deluxe 'Royal Wedding' meat pie (a normal meat pie with Royal
wedding on it in biro). The night will end with Lady in Red as that was
Di's song and its what the 'People's Princess' would have wanted.
So grab your white stilletoes and get me to the church on time as it going
to be one heck of a night!
When: Saturday April 30th from 10:30pm - 3:30am
Where: 02 Academy Islington, 16 Parkfield St, Islington, N1.
Price: Adv £6.50 plus booking fee. Door £8 before
midnight. £10 after.

01.27.11: 'Rewind – The 80s Music Festival' 2011 Announces
Henley-on-Thames, England Line Up
The
2011 REWIND FESTIVAL which takes place at Temple Island
Meadows, Henley-on-Thames, August 19th-21st, is dedicated to staging and
celebrating the best music of the 1980s. And this year’s festival
promises to be the biggest and best yet with a rare appearance from 80s
pop legend Holly Johnson on Saturday August 20th and The Human League
who will close the festival on Sunday August 21st.
This year’s line-up includes the fabulous Village People who willhave the entire
crowd up on their feet doing the ‘YMCA’ while Candi Staton, the Queen of
Southern Soul, is sure to set the festival alight with her anthem,
‘You’ve Got The Love’. Recently reformed bands Haircut 100 and Fiction
Factory make their festival debuts along with the iconic Ali Campbell’s
UB40 and the legendary Average White Band whose ‘Pick Up The Pieces’ is
still acknowledged as a solid piece of funk history. Back to Rewind by
popular demand are Billy Ocean, Kim Wilde, Howard Jones, and Nik Kershaw
who form part of a phenomenal line-up of 24 acts who can boast 180 Top
20 hits, 16 chart toppers and 50 years in the charts between them!
Lovingly dubbed the perfect festival for people who normally don’t go to
festivals, REWIND is great fun, family friendly, and set in the green
and pleasant surrounds of historic Henley-on-Thames, better known for
its cream teas and annual regatta. REWIND is super civilized for every
member of its massive 40,000-strong audience; facilities on offer
include GLAMPING – glamorous camping to those not in the know which
means that smart tents or yurts, complete with shower and toilet
facilities, can be booked and set up in advance plus this year, for the
first time, Rewind will be offering accommodation in traditional wooden
gypsy caravans. There’s mooring to be had on the river right next to the
site, themed bars abound with champagne and cocktails and posh nosh
stands will offer a huge range of delicious goodies from Moroccan
tagines, cupcakes, veggie and bbq delights to delicious snacks and meals
which will be available throughout the festival. And this year The Wine
Bar, that paean of 80s chic, will make its own Rewind debut with an
excellent array of top quality vino.
There are family-friendly facilities such as the KidZone which offers tons
of fun activities for kids in a colourful big top; a funfair and
magicians to keep even the most active kid amused! The hugely popular
Silent Disco is back, as is the Live Karaoke Stage and the fireworks
displays closing the main stage on both Saturday and Sunday night. This
year’s festival also sees the debut of the world’s first solar powered
cinema; the Groovy Movie Picture House is a unique multimedia venue
powered entirely by solar panels; from classic 80s blockbusters to
independent films and cinema shorts, there will be something for
everyone.
Says promoter David Heartfield: “Rewind is now the world's biggest 80s
music festival and we are thrilled that such legendary British acts as
Holly Johnson, The Human League, Average White Band and Ali Campbell's
UB40 can be with us this year. There's a massive and growing interest in
everything 80s around the world and this year we have some great acts
from America such as the fabulous Village People, Earth, Wind and Fire
Experience and Candi Staton. To go with all the festival favourites we
are bringing in some fun new facilities such as a cinema, The Groovy
Motion Picturehouse, and The Wine Bar which is modelled on those classic
wine bars of the 80s. Last year we expanded our capacity from 30,000 to
40,000 and to keep the unique feel of the festival we have decided not
to expand the capacity any further, despite the demand for tickets being
huge even though we haven't actually gone on sale yet.”

Saturday Aug. 20th: Holly Johnson * Village People * Billy Ocean * Bananarama *
Haircut 100 * Howard Jones * Hue & Cry * ABC * Fiction Factory * The

01.27.11: 80s Pop Stars costar in new Syfy Original Movie
Time to set your Tivos ... Pop star sweethearts Tiffany ("I
Think We're Alone Now") and Debbie Gibson or Deborah Gibson as she
likes to be called now ("Foolish Beat" & "Lost in Your Eyes"), are
costarring in the new made-for-TV Syfy Original Movie, Mega Python
vs. Gatoroid. As giant pythons invade the Florida Everglades and
threaten the alligator population, what do the locals do? Why introduce
a "gatoroid" of course! (That's a giant alligator for those of you not
well versed in monster lingo.)
As with most Syfy Original Movies, this looks like a real winner
(and when I say "real winner" I mean not very swift). Just take a gander
at Tiffany's "we're
going to need a bigger gator" scene. But the one thing the film's
got going for it, and the reason most of you will probably tune in, is
the
catfight between the two singers. Just before the fight breaks out
Debbie says to Tiffany, "Looks like somebody had bitch for breakfast." I
mean com'mon now you've gotta watch right? As one of the movie
taglines says, "Only thing bigger than a mega reptile problem is a
pop star one." Let the screaming, scratching, biting, and bad script
commence!
Mega Python vs. Gatoroid premiers Saturday January 29th at 9/8c on the
Syfy channel.

12.06.10: New Book by author Greg Prato ... MTV Ruled The World: The
Early Years Of Music Video
As
the author of such books as, Grunge is Dead: The Oral History of
Seattle Rock Music, Touched By Magic: The Tommy Bolin Story,
and A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other: The Story of
Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon, Greg Prato has a new title that is
now available for purchase.
MTV Ruled the World: The Early Years of Music Video
is the first-ever book to focus solely on the channel's important
building-blockyears,
specifically from the MTV's launch to when its original group of VJs
left the channel. Comprised of over 70 all-new interviews ("Weird Al"
Yankovic, Daryl Hall, John Oates, Joe Elliott, Phil Collen, Rob Halford,
Stewart Copeland, Rick Springfield, Jerry Casale, Geddy Lee, Ann Wilson,
Chuck D, Alan Hunter, Nina Blackwood, etc.), the book is not only an
eye-opening account of the early years of MTV and the stories behind its
biggest videos, but also of the music industry, important music
developments/events, and the "Big '80s" in general.
With the 30 year anniversary of MTV's launch (August 1, 1981) approaching
in 2011, what better way to celebrate than with an all-new book? MTV
Ruled the World is set up in an "oral history" format (in other
words, you're getting the story straight from the source) and is
chock-full of rarely seen (or in many cases, never-before-seen)
photographs.

the 27th September 2010, Sony Music will be reissuing George Michael’s
iconic album, Faith, now remastered. It will be available in
multiple special formats including Limited Edition Numbered Collectors
box set.
When George Michael released his debut solo album Faith in 1987
it instantly caught the imagination of the entire pop world, becoming a
milestone in both George Michael’s career and in popular culture. It
remains a high point in pop
music, as well as a measure for any artist wanting to cross musical
genres and gather both popular and critical appeal.
The album confirmed George’s status as a
songwriter of outstanding ability and emotional depth and it propelled
him to superstar status equal to that of Elton John, Paul McCartney,
Michael Jackson and Madonna. After hitting the Number One spot in the
UK, the USA and many other countries across the globe, Faith
went on to sell over 20 million albums worldwide. It became the best
selling US album of 1988 and was awarded the prestigious Diamond Award
for sales of 10 million copies.
Faith rapidly became a
record-breaking phenomenon, not only producing six Number One singles
but also putting George Michael on the map as the first white male
artist to hit Number One on the US R&B chart. Faith features some of
George’s greatest songs including Father Figure, One More
Try, Faith, Kissing A Fool and I Want Your
Sex.
The album was written, produced and
arranged entirely by George Michael. His artistry has resulted in
countless accolades, including a Grammy for “Album of the Year” and
three American Music Awards, namely: Favourite Album (Soul/R&B);
Favourite Male Vocalist (Soul/R&B) and Favourite Male Vocalist
(Pop/Rock). Additional tributes included an MTV Award for Father Figure”
(Best Direction) and two Ivor Novello Awards for “Songwriter of the
Year” and “International Hit of the Year”.
To date, George Michael has sold over
100 million records throughout the world; his music sounds as fresh as
it did when Faith was first released in 1987. So much so, in
fact, that George Michael’s songs – including tracks from Faith
– recently featured in the hit US TV show Eli Stone. As well as
appearing on the show himself, George’s songs were used as a theme for
each episode.
Today, George Michael continues to
inspire young talent and his influence can be heard amongst many of
today’s pop and R&B artists. The remastered, reissued Faith
will not only delight George’s legions of fans across the world, but it
will continue to influence a whole new generation of musicians.
George Michael’s Faith will be
reissued globally by Sony Music. The UK release date is the 27th
September.
All songs written, produced and arranged
by George Michael with the exception of Look At Your Hands by
George Michael and David Austin.

Power Balladz, an Off-Broadway production featuring 1980's
power ballads, hits NYC this August
What
song was playing when you had your first kiss? What about your first
slow dance? How about during your first time? Chances are, it was a
power ballad – you know, those songs that double as the soundtrack to
your life? Those anthems that make you want to throw a lighter in the
air and start singing along at the top of your lungs...
Now at the
brand new arena rock cabaret in the center of Times Square,
Power Balladz, you can do just that - celebrate the best music
of the 70s, 80s, and 90s and unleash your inner rock star.
Power Balladz is the arena rock experience you’ve been waiting for
- part hilarious comedy, part interactive game show, and 90 minutes of
wicked rock featuring some of the greatest anthems ever written by man,
woman, or beast.
The formula is simple – take some awesome rock singers, give them a full
band, tons of lights, a killer fog machine, a video projection screen,
and lots of leather and long hair. In Power Balladz the band
knows how to rock, but when the high school sweetheart of one of the
band members stumbles into the concert after over ten years apart – will
he be man enough to finally score the hard bodied girl of his dreams?
Enjoy the show, have a few cocktails, and lift your lighters in the air to
face melting guitar solos! And don’t worry – this is not your
typical, stuffy theater experience – we encourage you to leave your cell
phone on, sing along loudly, have a few too many beers, and even hook up
with your neighbor. Put the kids to bed, then come to Power Balladz
to act like one.
Straight from a sold out run in Minneapolis, Power Balladz is a
full night of fun. The party starts a half-hour before show time. Come
early for interactive games and rock trivia. After the show, your ticket
grants you access to live-band karaoke where you can live out your
fantasies center stage.
“Come Sail Away” to the Midtown Theater located in the center of Times
Square for a night of the best rock anthems that will be sure to bring
you “Home Sweet Home.”

03.10.10: Corey Haim Dies at 38
Another
80s star leaves us too soon. Corey Haim, actor and 80s teen idol, passed
away early this morning at the age of 38. Apparently he had been
suffering from flu-like symptoms, collapsed this morning at his mother's
home, and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His
death is being viewed as an apparent accidental overdose, but only
prescription drugs were found in his mother's apartment. An autopsy will
determine an official cause of death.
The Canadian-born actor got his start in the film "Firstborn" (1984)
starring opposite Teri Garr, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Robert Downey Jr.
After his leading role in 1986's "Lucas" he became known as a
heartthrob, going on to star in movies such as "The Lost Boys" (1987),
"License to Drive" (1988), and "Dream a Little Dream" (1989).
Unfortunately the late 80s saw the peak of his film career.
His
work in films with Corey Feldman lead the pair to be dubbed "The Coreys."
The two best friends even went on to do a reality show together on A&E
called "The Two Coreys" which aired in 2007-2008.
While it was no surprise Haim suffered from drug addiction, he openly
acknowledged his struggle and made attempts at rehab. In 2008 he bought
a full-page ad in Variety saying "This is not a stunt, I'm back. I'm
ready to work. I'm ready to make amends." This announcement apparently
worked. He starred in 2009's "Crank: High Voltage" with Jason Statham
and had other films in the works.
Corey -- Like Totally 80s thought you totally rocked. You will be missed.

01.11.10: 'I Think We're Alone Now' a feature documentary out on
DVD
In
a world flushed with obsessions over celebrity image and lifestyle,
super fans and fanatics have become an ordinary asset to any star within
the public eye. Aside from the frequent enthusiasts, however, I
Think We’re Alone Now showcases the story of two individuals
fixated upon 80s star Tiffany - their actions personifying the
definition of ‘stalker’.
The documentary features Jeff Turner, a 53 year old with Aspergers
Syndrome and Kelly McCormick, a 34 year old hermaphrodite and looks at
their love obsession with Tiffany who topped the charts with 'I
Think We’re Alone Now' in 1987. Cautioned with a three year
restraining order, Turner still freely attends her concerts and events
with money provided through his disability insurance. Any additional
finances are spent insistently on outlandish contraptions he claims
allow him to ‘strengthen his psychic connection with Tiffany’. Amongst
sending her endless letters, he was once arrested for taking her a bunch
of flowers with an enclosed samurai sword; the imaginary bond he has
with Tiffany is in reality, just harassment.
McCormick, who unlike Turner has never seen Tiffany in concert is far more
reclusive, choosing to obsess over the star from the comforts of her
Tiffany plastered walls. Despite never meeting her, McCormick claims to
have been best friends with Tiffany since a teenager, naming her as the
motivational force that has allowed her to do everything in life. The
documentary comes to a height when Turner and McCormick meet each other
and prepare to attend a Tiffany concert and meet and greet.
Taking an objective and sympathetic stance, the documentary delivers a
heart-rending yet often comedic insight into the fictitious
relationships created through a mixture of fandom and mental illness.

Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons has a run-in with the law regarding the
treatment of her cats.
Police
have hit new-wave rock icon and former Playboy Bunny Dale Bozzio with a
litter of animal cruelty charges.
Twelve cats had to be put down after a raid on a house the glitzy
Boston-based animal advocate was leasing on Newman Drew Road in Ossipee,
police said.
Bozzio, who hung with rock titan Frank Zappa and fronted 1980s band
Missing Persons, is in Massachusetts caring for her ill mother, manager
Joe Nelson said.
“These are a bunch of trumped up charges,” he said. “It’s a bunch of
small-town cops who don’t have anything better to do.”
He said Bozzio was in the middle of a move and had left the cats in the
care of a friend he identified only as Deborah. But he said the pal let
Bozzio and the cats down.
“She’s totally pissed. This woman promised her,” he said. “She’s not even
talking to her anymore.”
Bozzio has pleaded not guilty to three misdemeanor counts of animal
cruelty and will be charged with nine more based on the latest nine cats
to be euthanized, police said.

09.23.08: Kirk Cameron refuses to kiss
his costar.
Kirk Cameron has made the
headlines today for his refusal to kiss the actress playing his wife
in his new movie Fireproof (since it wasn’t his real wife and that would break his
marriage vows). Watch his interview with Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb
on The Today Show below.
08.22.08: Bruce Springsteen on tour and
better than ever!
A review by an LT80s site reader of his
August 21st concert in Nashville, TN:
Bruce Springsteen took the stage at the
Sommet Center in Nashville and played a 3 hour set with joyful abandon.
Appearing to have the voice and stamina of a twenty year old, Bruce took
audience requests and delivered a rockin’ show that satisfied fans of
all ages. Reaching back to the early days with a story about his first
guitar during “Spirit in the Night” all the way up to an encore of the
new “Girls in Their Summer Clothes” dedicated to Tennessee ladies, Bruce
and the E Street Band proved it all night that he is The Once and
Forever Boss. Without a doubt the best concert I’ve ever been to. –

Knight Rider back on the air as a new NBC TV series.
On the heels of
NBC's hit movie, the iconic 1980s television classic comes roaring back to
life as a reinvented, updated and super-charged action series showcasing
the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand). Absolutely the coolest
car ever created, KITT is equipped with an "AI" (artificial intelligence)
that is capable of hacking almost any system. Its weapons systems match
that of a jet fighter, and its body is capable of actually transforming
into other vehicles and using sophisticated holographic imagery to elude
villains. The cast includes Justin Bruening as Mike Traceur - estranged
son of Michael Knight; Sydney Tamiia Pitier as Carrie Ruvai - a tough FBI
agent who doesn't see eye-to-eye with Mike Traceur; Sarah Graiman as
Deanna Russo - childhood best friend, one-time girlfriend of Mike Traceur,
and daughter of KITT creator, Charles Graiman; and Bruce Davidson as
Charles Graiman - creator of Knight Industries Three Thousand (KITT). The
new version of Knight Rider premiers Wednesday, September 24th at 8/7c on
NBC. If you missed the TV movie, you can watch it in full here:

07.01.08: New 80s inspired musical in NYC this summer, The Johnny Musical,
as a part of the New York International Fringe Festival. It answers the
question, What happened to the bullying blonde jock in all those
beloved '80s movies AFTER he lost to the scrappy young underdog? When
Johnny Zabka loses for the first time ever, he has no idea what to do with
his life. Shunned by his friends and evicted by his parents, Johnny must
find a new way to win or else face the fact that he just may have peaked
at the ripe old age of eighteen. With a musical score that not only echoes
the music of the 1980s, but also finds a place for tap and Irish-themed
numbers, The Johnny is a lively musical that is full of laughs and
heart. For more info visit

07.01.08: Molly Ringwald (John Hughes 80s Brat
Pack star) returns to TV in a new series on ABC Family called ‘The
Secret Life of the American Teenager.’ In it, she plays 40 year old
mom of a 15 year old daughter that finds herself pregnant. It is produced
by Brenda Hampton, creator of “7th Heaven” and she likens this show to
that, only with sex. We at Like Totally 80s are thrilled to see Molly
Ringwald doing so many great things (she is also a star on Broadway),
although she’ll always be Samantha Baker, the girl that got Jake Ryan to
us.
