Cracked Explains Why Every 80’s Sitcom Decided To Kill Off The Mom

The latest video from the Cracked YouTube channel is practically made for the 80s lover. The team released a video that showed their discussion of Why Every 80’s Sitcom Decided To Kill Off The Mom.

Now that we think of it, this is pretty crazy. The shows include, Full House, My Two Dads, Diff’rent Strokes, Webster, Punky Brewster, Empty Nest, Blossom, Silver Spoons, Gimme A Break! and Who’s The Boss.

The team said while these shows were all meant to be family shows, there are a freakish amount of mom corpses. There are 13 dead or missing moms according to the crew. They thought that maybe the trend was just to copy the show that worked and rewrite it in a way that’s slightly different.

The reverted to all of the shows in more recent times that feature various versions of hospital teams. The Cracked team was pretty critical about these 80s sitcoms but there is plenty of laughter to be had.

We’re not sure how to explain this phenomenon because it truly baffles us. That being said, the 80s seemed to be really responding to abandonment. Don’t worry, we’ll quit with the stalling and let you check out Cracked Explains Why Every 80’s Sitcom Decided To Kill Off The Mom in the video below. We’d love to know what your thoughts are on this phenomenon, so drop us some comments below.
