Like Totally 80s: The Best of 80s Toys

Growing up in the 90s, the 80s had a huge influence on my childhood. From a continuous love of Barbie to toys kids still love today like Slip and Slides, the 80s had it all when it came to fun toys.

Spirograph

I still love this and seeing it again makes me want one! All the different disks make such a pretty and unique design. And colors can be intermingled for a look all your own.

Lite Brite

Again, all the feels. I want a Lite Brite, with all the patterns, and I want one now. These self-guided, light pictures are a fun way to create something awesome. Turn off the lights to see your completed work in the best “light.”

Etch-A-Sketch was a take anywhere, always have on hand, timeless toy for any age. And again, I would gladly play with one right now if you handed it to me.

Easy Bake Oven

As a cookbook writer, and foodie for life, it’s no surprise that I have such fond memories of this grownup cooking toy for kids. I still love the idea of it, even to this day. After all, who doesn’t love a mini cake all their own?

This clickable picture viewfinder provided fun pictures from your favorite books, movies, and more. I still remember the way the pictures looked, with that sheen and brightness. So fun.

Simon Says combines hand and hearing coordination and really puts you to the test. Have you ever played Bop It? This similar yet newer hand-held game pushes you to twist it, bop it, pull it and is a fun take on this older classic.

I have bought this present for someone in the last 5 years, and it was my 20 something roommate. At the time it was hard to find but once I did, I gifted it to her, and we had so much fun playing with it! I love this active, step-counting, quick feet fun time.

Don’t forget about the endless arcades and Nintendo. And of course the mall, where you could find toys to your hearts content, and pick out your favorites.
